"He’s one of our own!" echoed through Windsor from the opening bell until the decision was made on Saturday evening.
Matty Boreland made history on Saturday, becoming Coleraine’s first professional Irish boxing champion with a thrilling sixth-round victory in Belfast. After a fierce battle, the reigning champion, Ruadhan Farrell, couldn’t continue into the seventh round.
The fight was a close contest, but in the sixth round, Boreland began landing powerful combinations that ultimately sealed his victory. After both fighters exchanged punches throughout, Boreland’s precision and power earned him a crucial knockdown and a dominant finish.
