Coleraine win play-off fixture against Strabane

COLERAINE put in a strong performance at the weekend to make sure of the win in a closely fought league play-off fixture against Strabane.

The Montgomery Irwin sponsored Coleraine men were on a must-win mission to avoid automatic relegation to Division 3 of the Ulster Rugby Championship and their determination won the day after trailing the visitors at half time.

The final result, 28-22 for Coleraine, came after some fine defensive work as Strabane staged a late comeback but at the final whistle Coleraine were celebrating a solid performance and a solid win.

The Coleraine men now wait the result of the playoff between Omagh and Thomond on April 26.
