COLERAINE Grammar School and Dalriada Ballymoney will both look to make home advantage count in the last 16 of the Schools Cup this Saturday (10.45am)
CGS host Regent House School by the banks of the Bann while, at the same time, the Ballymoney boys welcome north Antrim rivals Ballymena Academy to their patch.
It promises to be a big weekend for both schools, with a place in the last eight of the competition up for grabs.
“The team has worked extremely hard this season to reach the last 16 of the Schools Cup,” said Director of Rugby at Coleraine Grammar School, Kieran Campbell.
“They returned to training on the July 16 last year and have been fully committed to developing the team’s performance.
“Their commitment has meant they have performed very well this season, winning eight out of 10 matches, and are going into the game with Regent House with a quiet confidence.
“The school as a whole is excited about the prospect of a home game in the last 16 and the players are looking forward to getting the opportunity to perform in front of a strong and, hopefully, vocal home support.
“As a senior squad we are proud of the progress made this season to date and can't wait to take the pitch on Saturday and represent the school and put in a performance which is befitting of the community we are indebted to which supports the rugby programme at Coleraine Grammar School.”
Meanwhile, Ballymena Academy Director of Rugby, John Nicholl, says Dalriada will be tough opponents in Saturday’s Schools’ Cup clash in Ballymoney.
“Dalriada are a well coached team who have played really well this season,” said Nicholl.
“They qualified from the Group Stages as one of the best runners up and I am certain they will fancy their chances at home.
“They have won the majority of their games this season so I am sure they will be ready come Cup time,” he added.
