IT’S back to boxing business for Matty Boreland as he prepares for his seventh professional outing next month.
February 27 will see Matty Boreland make the walk to the ring once again at the Waterfront Hall on the Quinn–Dodd card.
Boreland’s last outing came in September of last year and was successful, as he captured the Irish title with a sixth-round TKO victory over then-champion Ruahdan Farrell.
Boreland will share the card with three of his teammates from Ryan Burnett’s gym.
A Commonwealth Silver fight had been touted but it has since fallen through.
Regardless, Matty remains eager to take a fight, although an opponent has yet to be announced for the end of February.
Looking ahead to the summer, a new challenge awaits Boreland, with the opportunity to fight for another belt in the works - a victory that would cement coveted “Champ-Champ” status in the Irish boxing scene.
It’s been a remarkable 12 months or so for the Coleraine boxer who is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting young fighters coming through the Irish professional ranks.
