THE parkrun is a collection of 5KM events for runners, walkers and volunteers at more than 2000 locations in 23 countries.

There are numerous parkruns throughout the province which now includes Christie parkrun by the banks of the River Bann.

It is with 'much thanks to the Causeway Coast & Glens for supporting Christie parkrun” said a spokesperson, that the event will be held every Saturday.

Further thanks was given to Matt Shields, Ivan Prue and a team of local volunteers who have got the parkrun, literally up and running.

The first parkrun on August 23 saw 131 runners, joggers and walkers take part - as well as some four legged friends.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy the event whether they are starting out their fitness journey, or would even like to walk in the beautiful surrounds by the Bann.
