ON Saturday May 3 Lynsey McVicker was inducted into Hockey Ireland’s Hall of Fame at a reception at Havelock Park.
A legend in Ballymoney Hockey Club for many years, it was great to see her recognised by Irish Hockey.
This award recognises the contributions of individuals who have excelled in sport and served as a role model to future generations of players.
As a former Irish captain with 153 Irish caps, 69 international goals and a career spanning 12 years, Lynsey is a deserving inductee.
She has played in two World Cups, three Olympic qualifiers and four European championships, as well as being awarded an MBE for her services to hockey in Northern Ireland.
At Ballymoney Hockey Club we are so proud to count her as one of our own!
Her talent, skill and leadership on the pitch helped lead Ballymoney in one of their most successful eras playing on the pitch.
She continues to inspire both juniors and seniors at the club and we are delighted that her contribution to hockey continues to be recognised.
