Red Bull athlete rides mammoth 40 foot wave

There's big waves and then there's this monster.

And, of course, where there are big waves you will also find big wave surfers.

Local surfer Al Mennie put big wave surfing on the map in this country, setting the standard for others to follow.

Like Conor Maguire, for example.

A Red Bull athete, Conor recently rode this mammoth 40 foot wave which hit Mullaghmore Head in county Sligo following a large swell in the Atlantic Ocean.

There to capture the dramatic moment was photographer Gary McCall, giving us all an idea of just how daunting riding a monster wave actually is.
