Man charged with assault on police

A man faces a number of charges, including assault on police, at a court today.

The charges follow the report of an altercation in Limavady on Sunday, 22nd March.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences including two counts of assault on police, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and resisting arrest. 

He is due to appear before Antrim Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 24th March.

As is usual procedure, all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

A second man, arrested in connection with the investigation remains in police custody.
