It was another busy news week right across the Causeway Coast and Glens last week and that is well reflected in a packed 56 page edition of the Coleraine Chronicle which is out in the shops today.
In a hard-hitting front page we have an exclusive interview with the widow of a late Causeway Hospital nurse whose memorial in the grounds of the hospital was smashed and destroyed. Leanne Stewart Murray says she is at a loss and devastated by the wanton damage to the tribute to her husband Paul. Read all about the family's heart-breaking reaction in this week's paper.
Also on the front page this week we have the full story behind the arrest of three people as police investigate fraud allegations at the Causeway Coast and Glens Council. We understand that 'procurement and financial irregularities' are at the centre of the probe into a former 'mid-ranking' officer and senior officers are not involved.
Other news inside include a new report by experts shows that lung cancer rates are rising faster in rural and coastal areas; a restored 19th century former rural schoolhouse is on the market; a former asylum seeker hotel in Portstewart is set to become a halls of residence for students and councillors have been told that heating oil prices could be regulated at Stormont as the war in the Middle East rumbles on.
We have the very latest reports from the council chamber at Cloonavin and the local courts as well as our popular Community Forum pages which this week features a tribute to Poppy fundraisers in Portstewart.
And this week we have six pages from the local entertainment scene featuring the Steinbeck Festival, a WI arts festival, charity pub quizzes, Ballymoney Drama Festival and a casino night for Sandelford School and we also have no less than nine pages devoted to Coleraine Music Festival with lots of pictures of the local competitors.
So along with 17 packed pages from all the very latest local sporting action this is an edition you won't want to miss so make sure of your very own copy now!
