COUNCILLORS have agreed to splash out on a “historically significant” motorbike as a star attraction for its new Joe Dunlop Museum.

The idea of establishing a permanent exhibition dedicated to the road racing legend was adopted by members of Causeway Coast and Glens Council in September last year.

The decision to close the deal on the Honda 125cc bike was taken at a behind closed doors meeting of the Leisure and Development Committee on January 20.

According to newly published minutes of the meeting, members also agreed officers should engage in the purchase of a second 250 motorcycle subject to a ceiling value based on a valuation exercise.
