Three Stormont departments have denied responsibility for compensating Kilrea traders impacted by the closure of of the town’s Bann Bridge, councillors have been told.

That's the lead story in this week's Coleraine Chronicle - in shops Tuesday morning.

The crossing on the B64 has been closed since September 20 when extensive cracking was detected on a retaining wall holding up the south west approach road.

Since then, traders in the town have been feeling increasingly frustrated by a fall in trade.

The Chronicle has been following this story now for several weeks - read the very latest from Peter Winter in this week's edition.

Also on the front, we reveal how a Portrush woman, who assaulted a consultant and two nurses at Causeway Hospital earlier this year, has been jailed for seven months.

Elsewhere, in a story with potentially far reaching consequences, Causeway Coast and Glens Council has published 'town plans' to guide development in Portrush and Portstewart following consultation with local residents.

We also have all your regular council news, court reports and latest community information from around the borough.

In sport, we catch up with Bannsiders' boss Ruaidhri Higgins as he looks to guide Coleraine back to winning ways at home to Larne on Tuesday night after slumping to defeat against Cliftonville at the weekend.

And in GAA, Glenullin are through to an Ulster final in their 100th year while Newbridge and Scotstown must do it all again after their game was abandoned because of the weather on Sunday.

All this plus much, much more in Tuesday's paper.
