Is our tap water safe to drink?

BUSINESSES in Castlerock and Benone are losing customers and families are unsure whether it’s safe to swim on local beaches or drink water from their taps.
That was the warning delivered to Stormont by local MLAs during a debate on the blue green algae crisis that has spilled north along the River Bann.
Last month the council issued a temporary ‘no bathing’ warning at Benone beach when raised toxin levels were detected in water samples.
East Londonderry MLA Claire Sugden said the alert had produced knock-on effects.
