COUNCILLORS have agreed that Causeway Coast and Glens must be equipped to meet future demand for electrical vehicle charging points.
A motion passed unanimously by Cloonavin’s Environmental Services Committee on Tuesday calls for an assessment of current EV infrastructure and forward planning for additional charge points at council properties across the borough.
The plans should take account of the growing number of residents who own or are considering owning electric vehicles, as well as the needs of tourists visiting the area who may hire electric cars.
Members also agreed that officials should evaluate the Council’s own fleet requirements and the infrastructure needed at depots to support a transition to zero-emission vehicles, in line with government targets.
