CAUSEWAY Coast and Glens Council has been told it should apologise to a charity representing local skateboarders over its handling of a complaint.
An investigation conducted by the Public Services Ombudsman found ‘maladministration’ in the council’s failure to adhere to its own complaints policy.
In February 2022 Causeway Association of Urban Sports (CAUS) accused a council director of “acting in bad faith” in the contents of reports to councillors concerning the lease of land at Metropole Park in Portrush for a skatepark.
The Ombudsman’s investigation focused solely on whether the accusation was handled appropriately and in line with relevant guidance - although she did go on to recommended the Council considers setting up a meeting to resolve “any matters outstanding.”
