Hundreds of patients waited for over 12 hours

SIX hundred patients spent over 12 hours in Causeway Hospital's emergency department in June this year, compared to 574 in June 2024, new statistics have shown.
During June 2025 there were 4,237 attendances at the Coleraine hospital's emergency department, 240 more than in June 2024.
Latest Department of Health emergency care figures also reveal that the ED attendance figures fell at Altnagelvin Hospital during the corresponding period, with 4,660 patients attending in June 2025, compared to 4,982 in June 2024.
