DUP and TUV representatives have asked Causeway Coast and Glens Council to investigate planning compliance of hotels in the borough used to house asylum seekers.

The request was prompted by a court ruling in England, which granted a district council a temporary injunction to block asylum seekers from lodging at a hotel in Essex.

A council spokesperson told the Chronicle: “The Council received correspondence from the DUP then the TUV in relation to hotels housing asylum seekers and will now inquire into the matters raised.”
