800 social housing units in the pipeline

OVER 400 social housing units are under construction in Causeway Coast and Glens, the Housing Executive has revealed.

Last financial year (2024/25), housing associations began work on 237 new homes, according to NIHE Chief Executive Grainia Long.

That was the highest figure for ‘several years’ she said.

And it brought the total number of social homes currently under construction to 410.

Grainia Long was responding to a series of questions contained in correspondence from Causeway Coast and Glens Mayor Oliver McMullan.

Her letter also draws attention to a further 411 new social homes programmed to start between now and 2028.
