A SERVICE of Thanksgiving for the life of Rev Dr Brian Kingsmore was held in Ballywatt Presbyterian Church on Monday, 2 June.
The dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, late of Strand Road, Portstewart, passed away peacefully at Cornfield Care Home, Limavady, on 26 May.
In his funeral address, Brian’s oldest friend Professor Osmund Mulligan looked back on his remarkable life.
Born in working class East Belfast in 1933, Brian was the third of three sons.
When Belfast shipyards were bombed during the war many of the family’s neighbours were killed, even when seeking refuge in bomb shelters. Brian and his brothers were evacuated to County Armagh.
He returned to Belfast towards the end of the war and was influenced by the Boys’ Brigade in Pitt Street where the son of a City Mission worker became a close friend and ultimately led him to faith in Jesus as his own, personal, Saviour.
