A CHARITY which provides vital support to people struggling with debt across the borough dealt with 230 new cases last year involving around £2.5m.
The shocking statistics were revealed by Samantha Boswell, Chief Officer of Community Advice Causeway, who said: “We know that there are many more people out there who are struggling.
“There are numerous reasons why financial difficulties occur.
“Costs are still rising across Causeway Coast and Glens and things are getting worse for some people, through no fault of their own.”
She added: “Lack of affordable housing remains a big issue here.
“Our area has a high level of seasonal work, so wages can vary from month to month making it difficult to budget and manage credit.
“We see first-hand that expert advice immediately alleviates worry. Reach out now. There is always an answer and a way forward.
“Our clients tell us that it is really difficult to face money worries and I think everyone understands that.
“The longer someone delays, the worse things get. It is always better to act fast but, even if you don't, it is never too late to seek advice and start finding solutions.”
