COLERAINE residents, opposed to plans for a social housing scheme on their doorstep, suffered a blow this week when developers formally indicated a planning application was due.
Last year councillors authorised a sell-off of the nine-acre site at Laurel Hill to Northern Ireland’s biggest housing association.
Until now there has been no planning application for housing and so neighbours have instead focused on access road plans lodged in August 2022.
The application has attracted 89 objections and a ‘petition of objection’ with 108 signatures.
Planners have recommended approval but a final decision by elected representatives of Causeway Coast and Glens Council planning committee was deferred for a site visit.
