Gary McCoy has confirmed he was one of the riders involved in yesterday’s crash at Mill Road Roundabout and has since withdrawn from the rest of the North West 200 event.

The Cookstown rider was rear-ended by another competitor at the roundabout and will now miss the remainder of the NW200, as well as his much-anticipated TT debut, due to injuries sustained in the incident. McCoy shared the news on his Facebook page, stating:

“Yesterday afternoon I was involved in a crash that was completely out of my control. A rider behind me lost control of his machine and collided with me on the approach to Mill Road Roundabout.”

The second rider involved in the crash was Craig Neve, who is believed to have suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The event organisers released a statement on Wednesday evening, confirming the incident:

“Two riders were involved in a crash at Mill Road roundabout, six minutes into the Supersport qualifying session. Both riders were injured and attended to by the on-course medical team. They were transferred to hospital, one by road ambulance and the other by air ambulance.”
