CHRISTOPHER and Amanda Fulton have lost their appeals against their conviction for serious crimes against a four week old baby boy.
36 year old Christopher Fulton was given 22-year sentence in April of last year, with his wife 37 year old Amanda Fulton being handed down a four-year sentence.
The couple were living at Rockfield Gardens in Mosside.
The child sustained severe injuries in an assault committed by Christopher Fulton, that left him blind and brain damaged.
Newry Crown Court had previously heard that the injuries were "similar to a car crash" in terms of severity.
He was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of cruelty to a child.
His wife Amanda, 37, was found guilty of causing/allowing a child to suffer physical harm and cruelty to a child.
The judge told the appeal court that "Christopher Fulton was the perpetrator of this violence" and that "the sentence reflects the gravity of his crime".
The court also heard that the injuries of the baby known as P were so severe, he was as close to death as he could be.
The judge told the court that P's foster parent "showed all that is good in the midst of all that is bad".
