COUNCIL planners have approved the demolition of a Portrush house once visited by the future president of the USA, John F Kennedy.

The site overlooking East Strand occupied by Strandmore House is earmarked for a development of four semi-detached houses and duplex apartments.

The application generated significant local opposition form people concerned over the Victorian building's historical significance.
