Garry McGrotty wins Scratch Cup at Rathmore

CONGRATULATIONS to Garry McGrotty who won Rathmore Golf Club’s Scratch Cup last weekend for the first time.
In testing conditions, blown away in the morning then drenched in the afternoon, we had 15 competitors play 36 holes and it was a very tight battle until the very end.
Garry eventually prevailed with a 79-75 score, winning the Scratch Cup on a better second round score countback from our runner up Ben Best with 78-76.
Garry covered the back nine of the second round in two under par with a trio of birdies, four at ten, two at 11 and three at 14.
The best first round of the day went to Johnny Cummings with a score of 76. Leon Stevenson took the best second round, also with a score of 76.

We would also like to mention our M&H committee who continue to work all year in running these events, the green-keeping staff for their continuous work in maintaining a fantastic course and our bar staff who continue to keep the club members well hydrated throughout the course of the year as well as soup to our competitors on Sunday.
