Portstewart 4-1 Ballyclare
PORTSTEWART delivered an impressive second-half performance to claim a 4–1 victory over Ballyclare Comrades at Mullaghacall.
The Comrades struck first in the 25th minute when Michael Leetch timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap before rounding the goalkeeper after being played through by Jack Berry.
Portstewart were back on level terms eight minutes later as Jacob Bond capitalised on a flick-on from a long delivery, finishing neatly to bring the sides level before the break.
The Seahawks stepped up a gear after the restart.
Bond grabbed his second goal of the afternoon in the 52nd minute, reacting quickest to tap home after goalkeeper Oisin McAllister could only parry an initial effort from David McDaid.
McDaid then added his name to the scoresheet shortly after the hour mark, firing home from the edge of the area to extend Portstewart’s advantage.
Dean Brown completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, meeting a delivery at the near post to flick the ball into the net and wrap up a convincing win for the hosts.
Portstewart are on their travels to Rathfriland Rangers on Friday night.
