Coleraine head coach Ruaidhri Higgins accepts that Glentoran are on a 'brilliant run' at present but maintains that his side will be targeting a win when the teams meet at the Oval on Saturday.
The Glens overcame the disappointment of losing in the Bet McLean Cup final to Linfield last Sunday by sweeping aside the challenge of Cliftonville in a rearranged league game in midweek.
The victory sees Declan Devine's side open a four points gap on the Bannsiders with both sides having played the same amount of games.
An away win then is vital if the visitors are to keep the pressure on both this weekend's opponents and league leaders Larne ahead of the post split fixtures which begin next weekend.
"Regardless of how Wednesday night's game went it wouldn't change our approach to the game," admitted Higgins in his pre-match press conference.
"Glentoran are obviously in really good form -they've got a huge squad and, in fairness to them, they've used the squad really well.
"Fair play to them, they're on a brilliant run, but we have to go there and try and win," he added.
"We've seen the nature of this league so far this year and you can never rule anything in or out.
"We'll definitely go there with the mindset of trying to win the game, that's for sure. We respect the opposition completely, they've got so many match winners, and they're keeping clean sheets now as well,
"We know it's a big ask and a tough game but we're capable."
Coleraine have lost both previous leaguemgames this campaign - once at the Showgrounds and once in east Belfast - and were dumped out of the Bet McLean Cup by the same opponents.
Despite that, Higgins feels the bare results don't tell the whole story.
"The game here at the start of the season I felt we were the better team," he continued.
"In the two games at the Oval – one of the games as we know was a crazy game - and in the League Cup there was zero in the game.
"So they have edged it in terms of results but I think we've been unfortunate. Saturday is another opportunity to go there and try and pick up points.
"We've created opportunities in all the games against them, we've edged large parts of the games – it's just about those small moments – dealing with long throws, dealing with set plays, all those things.
"It's about making sure that every single moment we're tuned in to the game."
