LIMAVADY United are keen to return to footballing action tomorrow after last weekend’s clash against Ards was cancelled following a pitch inspection.

Hosting Lisburn Rangers at the Coleraine Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon in the fifth round of the Irish Cup, the Roesiders will look to get back to winning ways after a bitter defeat to league rivals Annagh United on New Year’s Eve.

Last year, Limavady pulled off a major upset against Larne FC, defeating them 1–0 after extra time thanks to a Ruairi Boorman goal. They will be hoping to replicate that result, perhaps in more comfortable fashion -and secure a place in the next round.

“We’re looking forward to it. We’re just coming out of a really busy period at Christmas, so it’s a nice, welcome distraction,” said Limavady boss Paul Owens. “There’s very little pressure -yes, we want to win the game because last year we got some good experience against Larne and Crusaders.

“A draw from the outside might look favourable, but we won’t disrespect them. We play teams from their league in pre-season, so we know how difficult it can be. We’ve done as much homework as we can and now we’re just looking forward to playing the game.”

“We had a good run throughout December up until the defeat against Annagh, so after that you just want to get back onto the pitch. We were disappointed with last weekend’s game being called off as well, and we’re eager to get back to winning ways.”
