DERBY Day success in Coleraine allowed Limavady to be the official Championship leaders for the first time in this year's Premiership promotion aspirations after winning their match against Institute.

The Roesiders suffered 'no real scares' against North West their North West rivals throughout the afternoon and early into the second half they pushed ahead from a Lewis Tosh goal, and were able to hold onto that lead for the rest of the match. Ballinamallard gifted Limavady a late Christmas gift after defeating Annagh United by the same result, putting a halt to the neck-and-neck race between Limavady and Annagh.

The three point gap has given The Roesiders a well deserved surge of momentum, which they will undoubtedly carry into tomorrow afternoon's match against Annagh United, which is high stakes for both, a must win for Annagh to match Limavady's 45 point total, a draw would be insufficient as they will still be three behind Limavady.

"We’ve been tied at the top for the past few weeks with Annagh, but we never got to go in front. So, we go into this week to look to tick another win off, and then it’s maybe 15 more games to go," said Owens.
“It’s going to be really difficult against Annagh, it always is; there’s a lot of aches and pains in the squad, but we’ll be raring to go."

Tomorrows match kicks off at the Coleraine Showgrounds at 3pm.
