Coleraine front man Jamie McGonigle admits he's not looking to far ahead after scoring twice in four days on his return from injury.

The Dungiven man missed three months of the season with a quad injury but has featured - and scored - in the Bannsiders' last two games, against Moyola Park in the Bet McLean Cup and in the league.

"It's been a good week surely," he agreed following his well-taken strike in the 3-1 win over Carrick Rangers at the weekend.

"I'm just obviously delighted to be back as I missed a lot of football, having been three months out injured.

"I'd be confident that if I'm making runs and running off the back of people we've the players who can pick the pass and Coops done that today.

"Throughout my career I'm probably best known for running off the back of people and in behind.

"I just had to pick my spot and find the corner and, thankfully, we got the three points.

"I known from playing with Nathan (Gartside) that he's a great shot stopper so your strike has to be perfect and it was today.

"The second goal was important as it completes the comeback. It wasn't ideal going behind but we have confidence in our group with the players we have and those coming off the bench that we can turn it around.

"We've done it already this season and we've full confidence in our ability," he added.

MCGonigle's return to fitness - and scoring - is akin to a new signing for Bannsiders' boss Ruaidhri Higgins at an important part of the season.

"I'm not looking too far ahead," continued McGonigle.

"When you've been out for three months it's just about getting your fitness back up and your match sharpness.

"Half an hour today, 20 minutes last week, it'll just take time."

Confidence is high in the camp

Was well documented that we'd lost a couple and you do get criticised for it so it was important we bounced back and we have

Cliche answer but we do look just one game at a time, no point looking past the next one because every game pose their own threats
