Matthew Shevlin moved to 12th on Coleraine's all-time goal scoring list after netting his 100th goal for the club in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Linfield.

The striker, signed from the Blues in 2021, reached his century of goals in 193 appearances - a record of better than a goal every two games.

In that period he has scored 11 times from the penalty spot, recorded three hat-tricks and provided 31 assists.

His sights are set now on those above him, most immediately Felix Healy and Harry McCormick, who both scored 107 goals for the Bannsiders.

Davy Pringle is next on the list with 110, one shy of Brian Jennings (111) and Ivan Murray on 117 goals.

Ricky Wade comes next with 120, just three behind Raymond McCoy (123) and Tony Curley, who netted 131 times.

Ken Halliday is third on the all-time list with 141 goals before there is a jump to Fay Coyle on 243 goals.

But they all trail a long way behind Coleraine's greatest ever marksman - the incomparable Dessie Dickson - who stands alone with 452 goals for the Showgrounds club, an incredible achievement.

Whether anyone ever gets close to the Ballymoney man is debateable but that doesn't detract from the achievements of Shevlin, who has consistently been the club's top goal scorer since over the past four years.

"Reaching 100 goals for Coleraine is an outstanding achievement," said Bannsiders boss Ruaidhri Higgins.

"I love Shevy's attitude, how he goes about it, and he's brilliant in the dressing room.

"He's been a fantastic signing for this club for a number of years now.

"Reaching 100 goals is a brilliant achievement and there'll be many more to come I'm sure," he added.

Now that he has got the century up it's all about the next 100 I'm sure...
