LIMAVADY United will look to consolidate their position ear the top of the Championship table when they travel to Dixon Park to face Ballyclare Comrades this weekend.

The Roesiders stay second in the league behind leaders Bangor following last weekend's convincing 3-0 home win over Newry City.

Lewis Tosh fired them into a 1-0 half-time lead with a fine goal after 24 minutes before Adam Mullan doubled their advantage with his first club for the club since joining from Coleraine.

And the points were secured when another ex-Bannsider, Ian Parkhill, netted from the penalty spot in added time.

“That was probably one of the most pleasing performances for us this season," admitted Limavady boss Paul Owens.

“We scored four goals last week against Newington the previous week but I think the performance against Newry was much better.

“I think we managed the game excellently and looked very professional and we defended perfectly.

“In the second half, despite maybe a five-minute spell, we were in total control and played the majority of the half in their half.

“Adam’s goal was an absolute cracker. He’s well known as a centre-half but I’ve been playing him as a right-back.

“He has been performing very well this season and I’m delighted that he got onto the scoresheet,” added Owens.

Saturday’s win puts Limavady three points ahead of Dundela, keeping them firmly in second place behind Bangor FC.

It’s back on the road for the Roesiders this week as they make the trip to Dixon Park to face Ballyclare Comrades.

“Our away form has been excellent this season, so we’ll go and get a good week’s training and prepare for what’s ahead," continued Owens.

“We’ve been bang on the money since the Ards defeat, the intensity of the training has increased and that’s been carrying into the Saturdays.

“So we’ll repeat that this week and get another three points on the board,” concluded the Limavady manager.
