SATURDAY saw nine games played in the Intermediate Divisions with four games being decided by a single goal which augers well for a close tussle between the teams during the season.
This Saturday will see eight more league games played than matches in the Irish Cup, IFA Intermediate Cup.
The County Antrim Steel & Sons Cup, MId-Ulster Bob Radcliffe Cup and North-West Craig Memorial follow on in quick succession.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
DIVISION ONE

BALLYMONEY UNITED 2, DESETMARTIN 3

The Martins went in front with Aaron Campbell scoring on the third minute. An own goal on the 23rd minute saw the Toon back on level terms. Another own goal on the 47th minute saw the Martins back in front. The Martins went two goals clear after Joel Deans scored on the 65th minute. Ballymoney got back with Luke McConnell scoring on the 75th minute but the Martins held out for the win.

STRABANE ATHLETIC 3, BELFAST CELTIC 1

The Athletic went in front after Simon McGlynn scored on the eigth minute then followed with his second goal on the 40th minute. The Athletic went three goals clear after Aaron McGurk scored on the 80th minute and time was almost up when Anthony Nelson scored for Celtic on the 89th minute.
Referee: Mr Martin Crawford.

WELLINGTON REC 2, St JAMES SWIFTS 3

The visitors went in front after Connor Farrelly scored on the 15th minute then Aaron Smyth equalised for the Rec on the 41st minute. Connor Farrelly scored a second goal on the 56th minute then Mark Mundell equalised on the 67th minute. Time was then running down when Connor Farrelly completed his hat-trick on the 85th minute to win the game for the Swifts.

NEWTOWNE 3, MAIDEN CITY 2

Newtowne were in front on the eigth minute after Daniel Boyle scored. City hit back with the equaliser when Shea Curran scored on the 22nd minute. Daniel Boyle scored his second goal on the 38th minute putting Newtowne back in front. City got back level after Brenan Moore scored on the 67th minute. The game was then heading for a draw when Connor Logue converted a penalty for Newtowne on the 77th minute for the win.

DUNLOY 3, NEWBUILDINGS UNITED 1

Dunloy went in front after Dermot McErlain cored on the 19th minute this goal separating the teams until Thomas McBride equalised on the 53rd minute. Half-time saw the teams still level then Dunloy took the lead again with Kyle Robinson scoring on the 68th minute. It was nip and tuck after this until Dermot McErlain scored his second goal in the game on the 90th minute.

DIVISION TWO

CHIMNEY CORNER 2, BRANTWOOD 0

After a steady start by both teams the Corner went in front after Alexander Lynn scored on the 37th minute to lead at half-time. The Corner doubled their advantage on the 54th minute when Tomas Skillen scored. Time was running down when Brantwood had a man sent off on the 80th minute.

COOKSTOWN YOUTH 2, GLEBE RANGERS 3

The Youth took the lead after Mark Megarry scored on the 15th minute then Harry Kirkpatrick equalised for the Glebe on the 33rd minute. Youths went in front again after Peter McLean scored on the 37th minute followed by Daniel Brown equalising for Glebe on the 47th minute. The Youth had man sent off at this time and it cost them dear as Jack Warnock scored the winner for Glebe on the 87th minute.

INSPIRED COMMUNITY 2, KILLYMOON RANGERS 5

The ‘Moon went in front after Matthew McMenemy scored on the 10th minute then Nosa Ogieva equalised on the 11th minute. The Moon went on to score three more goals through Eion Gallagher 29th, Lee Frazer 44th and Matthew McMenemy 46th minutes. Inspired got a second goal scored by Ali Alanwad on the 53rd minute before Matthew McMenemy completed his hat-trick on the 71st minute.

RATHCOOLE 2, WAKEHURST 5

Wakehurst went three goals clear scored by Ryan Sands 20th and Ben McCormick 23rd and 25th minutes. Rathcoole got a goal back after Kyle Leighton scored on the 27tth minute to reduce the deficit at half-time. Ben McCormick brough his tally to four goals in the game by scoring on the 63rd and 66th minutes. Rathcoole never gave up getting a second goal when Robert Patterson scored on the 73rd minute.
