It’s the biggest game of the Sports Direct Premiership season and now more fans than ever will be able to watch the climax to another memorable season!
The hugely anticipated title decider between Linfield and Larne at Windsor Park will now be played on Monday April 22 and will be broadcast live on BBC Two NI (kick-off: 7.45pm).
NIFL Chief Operating Officer Steven Mills explained the move: “It’s been a huge season on and off the pitch for the NI Football League. This game will be one of the biggest and most anticipated in many years, with so much on the line for both clubs in potentially a ‘winner takes all’ tie, therefore our aim is to maximise the exposure of the game and to ensure that as many supporters have the opportunity to watch live on television.
“On this occasion, we opened dialogue with both mangers and with our broadcast partner, BBC Sport NI, and all parties agreed that to provide the game with the platform it deserves and within the opportunities available to us this was the best window to play the game.”
Currently only one point separates reigning champions Larne in first place from Linfield with only four games remaining of an enthralling title race in the Sports Direct Premiership campaign.
Both teams will complete their league campaign on the evening of Saturday April 27 with the destiny of this season’s Gibson Cup to be decided once and for all.
