LIMAVADY United stay at the top of the league this weekend after lifting another three points.
Hosting Lisburn Distillery over the weekend saw Limavady finish the afternoon with a 3-2 result.
Limavady would open up the scoreline after Joe McCready would put the Roesiders ahead in the 25 minute mark, which was followed by Alex Pomeroy just eight minutes later.
But Lisburn Distillery wouldn’t be dismayed and put themselves on the scoreline after Ryan McNickle got his team going after 39 minutes.
The Lisburn goal didn’t put make much of a difference in the opening half because Lewis Tosh would make it 3-1 just before half time.
Speaking to the Coleraine Chronicle, Limavady boss Paul Owens said: “It was a game of two halves for us, I thought we were excellent in the first.
“We gave away a soft goal that kept them in the game but the match should have been dead and buried by then.
“We just weren’t at ourselves in the second, we just huffed and puffed but we still had our chances and in fairness to Distillery they played excellent in the second half,” said Paul.
Looking for a late rally, Distillery’s McNickle again scored in the 70th minute but Limavady were too far ahead and well organised, allowing them to take home the three points and putting them three points clear of the rest of the Premier Intermediate League.
The match contained some controvery, with Andrew Whiteside picking up a yellow card in his first match with Limavady, Matthew Walker getting a late red card, and Lisburn’s Dean Lewis and Johnathon Newell picking up their own yellow cards.

Signing of Andrew Whiteside
The January transfer market opened up where the Limavady boss was quick to sign the Dungannon man, saying: “I’m absolutely delighted to bring Andy to the club.
“Andy has excelled in the Championship and has recently gained great experience at Dungannon in the Premiership”

A busy week ahead of the Roesiders, taking on PSNI at The Dub on January 13 and then being the host to the Police on the 16 January for a Tuesday night game.
“It’s such a quick turn around to play PSNi again, so I’ll have to make a few changes for the Tuesday night and make sure it keeps us motivated for the cup final in a few weeks,” finished Paul.
Limavady have yet another final they hope to claim where they travel to the Brandywell against Institue FC in the Senior Cup Final on Tuesday 23 Janaury.
