PORTRUSH boy Ruairi Macintosh (10) recently took the trip of a lifetime as he travelled to England to lead his favourite team Watford FC out onto the pitch at Vicarage Road.
Ruairi, who plays for Portrush Youth, took a tour of the ground, meeting with players, staff and management before stepping out in front of nearly 20,000 people before the Hornets beat Bristol City 2-0.
The Mill Strand pupil was watched by three generations of his Watford-supporting family – dad Rob, cousin Tom, uncle Lachlan and granddad Malcolm – and by family back at home on TV.
Ruairi, who accompanied former Leicester City player and FA Cup winner, Hamza Choudhary, onto the pitch, predicted a 2-1 win for Watford when interviewed for Watford TV, but things went even better with two goals and a clean sheet.
