THE final Portrush Heritage Evening event will take place this Wednesday, March 25th at 7:30pm in the Kelly Memorial Hall.
And it promises to be a warm, vibrant celebration of our local culture through music, song, storytelling and readings.
The evening will open with a short Annual General Meeting to adopt the Group’s Annual Report and appoint directors for the year ahead.
Our own community voices will then take centre stage.
Local storytellers, singers, and musicians will bring Portrush’s heritage to life, weaving tales of our seafaring past, cherished traditions and the colourful characters who shaped our coastal town.
From heartfelt stories to spirited melodies, the evening will celebrate the enduring cultural heartbeat of Portrush.
Portrush Heritage Group is delighted to welcome back Colin Urwin, who will give the first of two performances.
A lifelong custodian of the language, folklore and traditions of the Glens of Antrim, Colin draws inspiration from the rugged romance of the north east coast - its people, its legends, and its haunting beauty.
His stories and songs are steeped in the spirit of Ireland and Scotland, offering a rich tapestry of history and imagination.
Adding to the celebration, the North Coast Dance Company - led by former Ulster and Northern Ireland Champions - will give Irish dance performances by talented local dancers.
The organisers are also pleased to feature Kate Murphy, a well known local storyteller and writer whose passion for the history, myths and folklore of the North Antrim Coast always captivates audiences.
“We warmly invite everyone to join us as we honour the people, stories, and traditions that make our heritage so special,” commented a spokesperson.
Admission is free for members (Annual Subscription £15) and £5 for visitors.
