A NASHVILLE singer songwriter will be appearing in concert at Ballywillan Presbyterian Church in Portrush next month.
Johan Glidden, a multi-instrumentalist working in Tennessee, will be the star attraction in an ‘Evening of Song, Story and Faith’ on Friday, March 6th at 7.30pm.
Funds raised will go towards the Ballywillan church repair fund.
Raised in a household full of music, Johan picked up a violin at just five years old and has been creating ever since.
Since 2020, he has released 26 songs, including Unprepared, his debut full-length album and Some Kind of Peace on Earth, a collection of original Christmas music.
As a self-produced recording artist, he’s enjoyed the adventure of releasing music in multiple genres, including folk lament On Rocky Ground, all-out worship anthem Still Small Voice and soul-pop jam The Way I Think.
Johan seeks to keep himself - and his listeners - entertained musically while sharing his honest journey through daily life as a Christian in the 21st century.
His lyrics often explore questions about friendship, personal doubt, church hypocrisy, recovery and nostalgia. Oh, and of course a few love songs for good measure!
Johan has received multiple accolades for his songs, including his piano ballad, Double Yellow Lines, which was listed in American Songwriter's ‘Songs that we absolutely love’ in 2023.
His influences range from Rich Mullins to The Beatles to Foy Vance to John Mayer, and his favorite pastime is reading a novel that’s way beyond his comprehension while drinking a verifiably unhealthy amount of coffee.
Meanwhile, a Coffee Morning will be held in Ballywillan on Saturday, March 14th from 10am-1pm to raise funds for Challenge Ministires Swaziland.
