THE Paddy Douglas Tribute Concert in Ballymoney on Saturday night certainly hit all he right notes for charity.
The Bush Tavern in Ballymoney was the venue for the event in remembrance Paddy who tragically lost his life in a house fire in July.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Air Ambulance NI.
It all came about as the brain child of Nick Jackson, Darren Hutton and Mark Roberts as a fitting way to honour their friend and has been all approved by Paddy’s family.
And the organisers are delighted with how it all went.
“So between the funds raised between the gig, the justgiving page and McMullan's funeral home, the total raised is around £4k,” said a spokesperson.
“The dust has finally settled on the amazing feat that was the wild and wonderful Paddy Douglas Tribute Concert.
“Weeks of organising by everyone that eventually materialised into near six hours of set-up to create what was a mega rock stage that will be remembered in local rock lore for years to come.
“As the bands rolled in the atmosphere in the room was one of enthusiasm, excitement and a united sense of purpose and that was to put on the best rock show we possibly could for the punters and most importantly to honour Paddy’s memory.
“The support from every person that attended the event was outstanding and the room was filled with amazing stories of how Paddy touched everyone’s hearts in one way or another and all raised a pint in his memory.
“By the end of the night we were all tired and sore but on a real buzz and the breaking down of the mega stage only took slightly over an hour.
“The final figure raised for Air Ambulance hasn’t been tallied up as yet as the justgiving is going to be running to the end of the week to give anyone who missed out going on Saturday night an avenue too still throw a few quid in the bucket,” added the spokesperson.
