Portrush bodyboarder Martin 'TK' Kelly came agonisingly close to winning a 12th Irish title at the Irish Surfing Championships in Bundoran.
VETERAN bodyboarder Martin 'TK' Kelly is still waiting to win an incredible 12th Irish title after coming so close at the recent Irish Championships in Bundoran.
The 40-year-old Portrush man was beaten into second place by just 0.2 of a point, after leading for much of the competition.
Still, there was consolation for the surf instructor when he was included on the nine strong Irish team for next month's Celtic Nations Cup in Scotland.
That event takes place at Thurso on the west coast in November and 'TK' admits he is relishing the opportunity of representing his country once again.
"It's my first call-up in years and I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
"Hopefully I can win my division and earn points for the team so that we can retain the trophy."
