A COLERAINE mum has spoken of her 20-year battle with depression and how it has inspired her to set up a sanctuary to support others in despair.

Michelle Edgar told The Chonicle how she had founded the Butterfly Survivors Drop-in centre at Abbey Street to provide a place of safety and much-needed support.

The mum-of-four said: “Mental health is a growing concern in our local community and Butterfly Survivors, a voluntary organisation, aims to help by offering a listening ear and welcoming everyone.”

* Butterfly Survivors is based at 35 Abbey Street, Coleraine and open every Friday from 7pm until midnight until more volunteers are recruited and opening hours are extended. The Helpline phone number is 07394454623
