'I could not teach anywhere else'

Ballysally Primary School teacher Jonny Doey admitted that he was overjoyed after he received  ‘Best Primary School Teacher’ at the annual Family First Awards ceremony in Belfast recently.

The school's Principal Geoff Dunne also finished runner up in the ‘Best Principal’ category capping off a truly remarkable achievement for the local school.

Jonny was born and raised in Ballysally and admits he has a real association with the local community.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Jonny Doey said: “It was a very special and extremley proud moment for me and the award was something I never would have imagined.

“There was approximately 700 people at the awards ceremony that night and when they called out my name I was in total shock.
