Concerned parents in Portrush have said that better facilities need to be provided for kids after a 14-year-old boy suffered life changing injuries.

Last week, Oly Simmons was happily playing football with his friends in the Glenmannus Road area when disaster struck in the seaside town.

The teenager fell on to a broken glass bottle which was buried deep in the lengthy grass leaving him with a deep wound on his leg which later required 16 stitches.

In light of the latest incident, Portrush residents have called for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to clean up their act and make improvements in Portrush to ensure that a similar accident is avoided in the future.
