It is a long time since tigers were considered relevant to a North Coast planning matter.
Perhaps not since the Lion Park was conceived in the 1970s have big cats of any species played a role in a major development application.
That all changed last week, however when a famous Supreme Court ruling on the ‘Fen Tigers Case’ took centre stage during a meeting of Causeway Coast and Glens planning committee.
The ‘tigers’ in question are not quite as fearsome as those who roamed the safari park at Benvardin five decade ago.
