The late Ian Patterson will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Church in Articlave later today.
A “MUCH-LOVED daddy”, who died in a tragic accident in Articlave on Friday, will be laid to rest today (Tuesday).
Father-of-two Ian Patterson is believed to have been electrocuted while changing a light bulb in a shed at his Rockmount Gardens home.
In a cruel twist of fate, villagers tried to save the popular businessman using a recently installed defibrillator which the 44-year-old had helped purchase through fundraising.
Mr Patterson's grief-stricken family were too distraught to speak yesterday.
But in a death notice they described him as a “much loved daddy of Lewis and Neve, devoted son of Lorna and David, dearest brother of Stephen and the late Ricky and dear brother-in-law of Cathy and uncle of Ryanne, David and Adam.”
Mr Patterson's funeral, which will be conducted by Rev Adam Quigley, will take place today at 1.30pm from his parent's home in Mussenden Road, Articlave.
Local Councillor Sam Cole will be among mourners at today's funeral. Paying tribute to Mr Patterson he said: "The Articlave and entire Coleraine district community are still trying to come to terms with Ian’s tragic and untimely death.
"He was larger than life and his friendly and affable personality endeared him to his many customers and friends.
"Ian will be sadly missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family circle at this sad time."
