IT’S that time of year to look out your swimming costume and dust off your Santa Hat for the annual Santa Splash at East Strand Beach in Portrush.

Celebrating its 10th year this community event promises to be the biggest ever with more and more ‘Splashers’ from all parts of Northern Ireland braving the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for another worthy charity.

Last year 340 people jumped in and raised £12,000 for Aware NI.

This year organisers have chosen to raise money for the RNLI Lifeboat in Portrush. The resort’s Lifeboat Station was built in 1924 and since then generations of volunteer crew members have been providing a 24 hour rescue service by saving lives at sea in our local waters.

55 North are once again supporting this event by providing hot drinks and food for everyone who donates or takes the plunge.

Organisers are also delighted that Shamie Heaney will provide top quality swing and festive music at 55 North after the Splash for everyone to enjoy.
