A FAMILY led celebration for the life of Captain Robert Anderson took place in Coleraine Town Hall on Friday, November 30.
Many people who knew Robert throughout his lifetime travelled from near and far to recognise his achievements.
It was a very fitting location for the life of a man whose professional and personal life centred round the town and the local area.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Chivers, opened proceedings by paying tribute to Portrush Harbour Master, Robert and all that he achieved.
His daughter Charlotte welcomed everyone on behalf of the extended Anderson family and Robert’s son Neal gave everyone an insight on how his father, who was born in Coleraine, developed his interests in shipping through family connections to the sea.
Everyone in attendance enjoyed a digital slide show presentation of photographs and movie clips showing Robert in many roles throughout his career, which spanned over 40 years, including dredging master, river pilot and harbour master.
