MARATHON running is not something which everyone enjoys and for many it all seems too much like hard work, however, for one local man adopting an active lifestyle has changed his life for the better.

Coleraine man, Brian McNeill, is fresh off the back of his latest success at the Dublin marathon and insists that he does not plan on stopping there. With the recovery now behind him and an entry for the next event already in the pipeline, he admits he thoroughly enjoys being active.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Brian said:“I have just completed the Dublin marathon and I done it in around six hours which is not the fastest time but I am happy with it given my age.

“I looked at the results and there are another 300 odd people behind me so that is a feather to my hat,” he said.

After working for many years, one day it all made sense for Brian as he got involved in getting fit and he now feels a lot better for it.

“I'm 77 at the minute but I turn 78 in February and I started doing the marathons when I was 73,” he added.
