FERRY operator StenaLine has come under fire from a local councillor after the company refused to allow Coleraine FC supporters to board their voyage home on Saturday, October 12, after a weekend fixture in Wales.

The fans’ behaviour on the outward journey was branded “totally unacceptable” by the cross channel sailing giant.

While a local councillor has branded the move as an “over-reaction,” StenaLine said “unruly” fans had prompted concerns for passenger safety.

The fans are members of a 50-strong group from the Blue and White Army Supporters Club, which is not directly affiliated with Coleraine FC, but have become apparent at games in recent years.

The supporters were travelling from Dublin to Holyhead on Saturday morning when the alleged trouble began as the fans made their way across the Irish Sea ahead of the Irn Bru Cup clash.
