Connor McCloskey made the switch to Michelin tyres pay on the Benone roads.
KILREA'S Connor McCloskey overcame early brake troubles to win Saturday's Tyrone Stages Rally - his first victory on a closed-road event since 2011.
He punched in nine quickest times in his Ford Fiesta R5 to end the drought by 11 seconds.
Afterwards, he admitted the rally hadn't originally been on his radar.
"It was a last minute decision to go to the event," admitted McCloskey.
"This was my first time in the car on a proper Tarmac rally and it worked well."
Meanwhile, a number of winning performances during the summer has seen Claudy driver Jordan Hone nominated for the Billy Coleman Award.
