FOUR ghostly silhouettes, representing fallen soldiers, will be installed across the borough to mark the centenary of the Great War.
The decision to buy the statues was approved by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council's Policy and Resources committee on Tuesday, despite opposition from Sinn Fein.
The figures, known as the ‘Tommies’ are the brainchild of campaign group, ‘There But Not There’ which aims to highlight sacrifices made by armed forces personnel through installations across the UK.
It is also seeking to educate younger generations and raise funds for ex-soldiers suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and other combat related injuries.
The campaign was brought to the attention of a council working group organising Great War commemoration events by General Lord Dannatt.
